The explosion of a massive fertilizer bomb in downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was a tragic event that shocked the nation and stole innocent lives. The bomb left a shell of the building that once was the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, as well as causing immense damage to the surrounding city blocks.
In response to the long-term financial impact of the tragedy, the federal government sought to remedy the city with a specialized disaster recovery package that covered aspects of financial losses related to business interruption in addition to the property damage involved.
Based on its long-standing reputation for excellence as public adjusters, Adjusters International was named to the Governor´s Task Force on Damage Assessment. Adjusters International was asked to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the damages to the more than 320 buildings affected by the bombing, together with all the losses sustained by individuals, businesses and governments. This monumental task was required to be, and was, completed in just two weeks. The total estimated impact in Oklahoma City was $652 million.
This engagement displayed Adjusters International´s ability to mobilize professionals to meet stringent timeframes and assess damage in an applicant´s critical time of need.
